Oh, Schoolhouse Rock. If only it were that simple! There were major setbacks on the legislative front in the past month. California’s psychedelic decrim bill (SB58) made it through the house and senate, only to be vetoed by Gov. Newsom (bitchhh!!). And, the TREAT California initiative to create $5b in funding for treatment, research, education, access and therapies also stopped in its tracks. These bills were far from perfect, but I was proud to support both. Alas, the fight for greater psychedelic access and funding continues!

Set the Setting Playlist: Wedding Jams

I LOVE WEDDINGS! Seeing the happy couple in love, sharing their commitment with their friends and family - god I love it! This playlist is inspired by the EDM weddings that I attended this year (…and proposals - don’t keep me waiting, Aubrey!). There’s some instrumental Seven Lions in A minor, some acoustic Skrillex (shout out to Jack and Renn!) and let’s be real - a lot of Calvin Harris. These are wedding jams for the whole shebang. Tracks for walking down the aisle, reception, first dance, and watching the sunrise arm-in-arm with our loved ones.

David and Vicky’s Tulum Wedding Recap

I just got back from a week in Tulum to celebrate David and Vicky. Couples like David and Vicky are such a perfect match for each other. Their connection is inspirational. In some ways, it’s disheartening because it sets the bar SO HIGH for what the type of love I want in my life!

That week in paradise was pretty magical. I am so appreciative of all of the coordination that went into curating such blissful vibes. And the wedding itself! I mean… they CRUSHED it! I’ll let the videos speak for themselves. Shuffling, sparklers and such gorgeous smiles — awww so much love!

Throughout the week in Tulum, I had a few precious moments to reflect. I journaled pages upon pages of gratitude; I live a purposeful life, I have an incredibly supportive network of family and friends, and I have my health. I’m already starting to think about what I want to manifest in 2024. I’ll be going into next year with a lot of intention, but as always - surrendering to the experience.

Catch me IRL in Houston (Thanksgiving)

I’ll be flying into Houston for Thanksgiving and to celebrate Grandpa’s 109th birthday! This pic of the fam (Grandpa not pictured) is from Thanksgiving 2003. Wiiiild. See you soon, fam! I can’t wait to catch-up, cherish the memories, and create new ones. I’ll bring the shrooms 😇

Return of the Double Decker Taco

I have been craving the double decker taco for years; my favorite Taco Bell item from childhood. (I just checked to see if the Taco Bell on Highway 99 in Lynnwood, WA is still there… it is!). The double decker taco was such a game changer is because the soft tortilla prevented the hard shell from crumbling in your hands and added a smooth layer of beans. And no, a double decker taco is not the same thing as a cheesy gordita crunch 🙄. Only Taco Bell amateurs make that comparison / can’t tell the difference.

One of my consulting clients is Taco Bell and I am wrapping up my 2023 engagement with them in the next few weeks. I’ve been training their VPs, SVPs, and C-Levels on DEI topics in small groups of 2-6 execs. I was just clued in that the double decker taco will be returning to the menu on December 5th and I’M SO FREAKIN EXCITED! I’m going to drive down to the TB Cantina at Pacifica Beach, get really stoned, and relive my childhood memories. Take note: Jeff, Tony, Steve J - I’ll be FaceTiming you!
